U16 Parent Letter
U16-AA – Coaches Letter
Hello parents and/or guardians,
I am Christopher Derry better known as George, I am
excited to be coaching the 2024-2025 U16 AA Jr Bulls hockey team.
Little about myself I have helped out the past
couple of years with the Jr. bulls as a helper. Born and raised in the town of
Marmora On. I started my hockey adventure in minor
hockey and then went onto playing Jr. C and now play Sr. A for the
Tweed oil Kings I also coached my son in Tweed for
several years but enough about me, would like to thank everyone for
being here and wish all the players the best of luck
wherever you may end up playing this season. Although this can be an
exciting time of the year it can also be a stressful
one for both players and families. I encourage all players to remember this
is their time to shine and show what they can do but
also try to relax and have some fun. In
addition to myself, players will
be evaluated by several qualified individuals who do
not have any affiliation to this team. They will be utilizing an objective
evaluation tool to assist them in identifying the
characteristics that I have identified as being important at this level of
hockey
ex speed, grit, compete and coachability. Players
will be chosen based on overall skill, ability to see the ice, players
character and fit to the teams needs. The tryout process will include three skates
and two games. I will be making cuts after
the second skate and each subsequent skate. Final
cuts will be made after the second game. This year cuts will be made
electronically through the Belleville Minor Hockey
website; an email should have been sent to you with your child’s tryout
number. Parents
of players that have been released after the final game will be available to
talk by phone (613)-848-8552 –
24 hours after the final tryout if parents have
questions. As you know, Rep hockey is a
big commitment which is something
we all need to consider when accepting a position on
this team. This year we will be participating in 3 tournaments
throughout the season and will be practicing 2 times
a week and some weeks will include extra developments such as
dryland or specialized development. Each family can
expect to pay $2000-$2250 above the base registration price for us to
maximize player development. When accepting a
position to play on this team you’re making a commitment to numerous
other families who are counting on each and every one
of you to be a committed team member. As
the coach of this team, I
can tell you that I’m extremely excited for the
upcoming season. It won’t come without challenges, but I know we have the
ability to be a very successful team. I also feel very
confident that we can make this season a very rewarding and fun
experience for your child, and I look forward to
working with both players and parents during the 2024/2025 hockey season.
Good Luck, Christopher “George” Derry
